European General Data Protection Regulation

The European Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), applicable as of May 25th, 2018, coordinates data privacy laws across Europe in all its member states. The Italian Cultural Institute, an Italian Government Office that is part of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), must comply with this regulation.

We would like to inform you about the content of the GDPR and what it means for our contacts:

1) Your personal data (full name, email address and any other applicable information you provide us with) are required to register with the e-mail list of the Italian Cultural Institute in Toronto (IIC) to stay in touch with us regarding work-related activities. They are processed fairly, lawfully and transparently, in accordance with your rights as a data subject.

2) The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), which operates through the Italian Cultural Institute, is responsible for the safety and privacy of your data.

3) For questions or complaints regarding personal data management you can contact the Personal Data Protection Officer/Manager at MAECI

4) Collected data will be stored in a database and will be used to inform you of our upcoming events and activities, to invite you to our events, and to communicate with you regarding our services.

5) Your consent to the use of such data is necessary for you to receive our services. 

6) Data is processed both manually and automatically by the IIC personnel only. It is used by the IIC only and is not shared with third parties. 

7) Every 5 years, the IIC will ask you to digitally confirm or deny your consent to receive our services. Should you not take any action, we will assume you are consenting to receive our emails and e-vites. 

8) You can always ask to access your personal data and make changes or unsubscribe from our mailing list, via Sendinblue or by contacting us via email at  [email protected].

Please note that unsubscribing can impact your ability to receive our services. You can also request the full cancellation of your data from our database by sending an email to [email protected] - cc: [email protected]

9) If you think your rights have been violated, you can send an email to RPD at MAECI ([email protected]), or alternatively, to the Garante Italiano per la Protezione dei Dati Personali (The Italian Data Protection Authority).
